Four paddlers racing down the Missouri river are on pace to break a speed record that's just weeks old.
Scott Miller, Lad'a Zednik, Scott Duffus, and Curt Leitz are expected to reach the Mississippi river in less than 25 days. The team is after a record that was set July 3rd, by paddler Pete Larson, who did the trek solo in 32 days and 6 hours. The previous title of fastest Missouri navigation was set in 1980, at more than 33 days.
The team of four is taking shifts rowing, rather than drifting down the waterway, and stop to meet with a support team once a day to restock on food and water.
The Minnesotans' final time continues to fluctuate, but the team is expected to finish tonight or early Saturday.
