The St. Joseph Mustangs struggled to get into the hit column on Sunday in Indianola, IA against the Des Moines Peak Prospects falling 9-1 in the afternoon matchup.
Des Moines got off to an early 6-0 lead through three innings before the St. Joseph pushed across their only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning, a double from Aron Harrington that scored Jeremy Rader.
The Mustangs recorded just two hits on the night, both coming from Rader and Harrington, and struck out eight times against the Prospect pitchers.
Northwest Missouri State pitcher Andrew Clark started on the mound giving up eight runs through 5.1 innings and striking out three but struggled with command walking seven batters.
The Mustangs are now 19-10 on the season, 17-10 in the MINK League, and remain in second place behind the Clarinda A's, now by two games after Clarinda split a doubleheader on Sunday against Jefferson City.
A four game homestand is up next for the Mustangs as they enter the July playoff push. First up will be Chillicothe on Monday at Phil Welch Stadium with first pitch at 7pm.
