Phyllis Dianne (Dempsey) Dye, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024.

She was born April 23, 1944 in St. Joseph to Raymond and Ella (Adams) Dempsey.

Phyllis married Dennis Dean Dye in February 1962. They later divorced but remained friends until his passing in November 2006.

She was a Food Activity Foreman at Fort Leavenworth for many years.

Family meant everything to Phyllis. She took care of all her grandchildren, even raising 10 of them herself. She also loved to bake and was best known for her fudge, brownies, pies, and liked to crochet. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Yahtzee with her friends at the nursing home.

Phyllis was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Dye; daughter, Denise Williams; brothers Ronald and Richard Dempsey; and her former husband, Dennis.

Survivors include her children, Tammy Lopez and Lisa Dye; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; sisters, Anna Sears and Sandra Esker; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
