Royals, Rockies postponed; Doubleheader on Thursday

Posted Apr 24, 2025 2:40 AM

After a two-hour-plus rain delay, Wednesday night’s game between the Rockies and Royals at Kauffman Stadium was postponed and will be played as the second game of a traditional doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1:10 p.m.

Dark clouds and storms were rolling in around the Kansas City area throughout Wednesday night. It started raining around 8:45 p.m., with the teams making the decision to play a doubleheader tomorrow shortly after.

The Royals will have lefty Cole Ragans start Game 1 tomorrow as originally scheduled for the series finale, and then right-hander Michael Lorenzen – who was supposed to start Wednesday night – is scheduled to start Game 2.  Tomorrow will mark the Rockies’ second doubleheader in five days after they split with the Nationals on Sunday.

Traditional doubleheaders are played with a short break between games, and typically with single-game admission, but the Royals had not immediately released ticketing information after the postponement.
