ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating a burglary and theft in Atchison County have made an arrest.
On Sunday morning, police responded to report of a burglary at the King’s Convenience Store, 912 Unity Street in Atchison that had occurred during the night on Saturday night, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
That investigation determined that unlawful entry had been made into the store around 2:00a.m. The suspect took cigarettes, lottery tickets, vapes, lighters, beer and a large quantity of coins.
At 10a.m. Sunday, the investigation led officers to a 17-year-old boy who was located at a residence several blocks from the store and taken into custody. He was later released to a parent.
Most of the items taken in the burglary were recovered, according to Wilson.
