Ed Zion, 76, Bolckow, Missouri; passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023.
Ed was born on February 5, 1947 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Howard Wilson and Blanche Mildred (Wright) Zion. He was raised in Fillmore, Missouri and graduated from North Andrew R-VI High School.
Ed was known as “the handy-man” and was never found without a set of tools. He was a mechanic, and owned and operated Ed’s DX Service in Rosendale, Missouri from 1960’s-1980’s. He later worked at the Andrew County School District as a bus driver and mechanic.
Ed was a member of Rea Union Church, the Rosedale Fire Department, the Rosendale Lions Club and was an active member of the NRA. His favorite past times were staying busy working on things and farming.
Ed married Ruth Ann Townsend on April 5, 1968, and recently celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.
Ed is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Robert “Flip” Zion (Beth); daughter, Lisa Bacon (Randall); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and brother, Melvin Zion (Sue).
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Melvin Dean Zion and daughter, Kathy Lynn Zion.
Graveside Service and Interment 2:00 PM Monday, May 1, 2023 at Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, Missouri.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:30 PM Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.
The family has requested memorial donations to North Andrew Scholarship Foundation.
