Betty Lou Matlock, 88, of St. Joseph passed away August 6, 2025. Betty was born February 24, 1937 in Fairfax, MO, to Floyd and Mary (Spoon) Mills.
Prior to retirement she worked for Big Smiths, HD Lee, and Sherwood Medical.
Betty married Bill Matlock on February 25, 1954 in St. Joseph and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson Clayton Loubey; and step-great-grandson Rylie Findley.
She is survived by her daughters Lee Ann Smiley (Mike) Rosvetta Sandusky (John); four grandchildren Derek Smiley, Miranda Anderson (Eric), Lisa Findley (Joey) Sherry Fisher; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She loved to garden, work puzzles and taking care of her cats. Her family was her life and she loved taking care of them.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Services will be Monday, August 11, 2025 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Craig IOOF Cemetery in Craig, MO.
