William "Bill" Simpson 73, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home. He was born October 15, 1949 in Mercer County, MO, son of Betty and John Simpson.
He graduated from Chillicothe High School, class of 1968, and from UMKC with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Bill married Susan Storms on December 31, 1996 St. Joseph. He served in the Army, and he is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill worked as a CPA in the St. Joseph area for over 40 years. His hobbies included hunting and traveling. He was a former member of AICPA and NSA.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Nancy O'Rear and Telpha Heuman.
Survivors include: his wife, Susan Simpson of the home, children, Becky (Kori) Martin of Raymore, MO, Michael Simpson of Kansas City, MO, and Meaghan Simpson of St. Joseph, step-children, Steve (Cathy) Peterman of St. Joseph, Michelle Peterman of St. Joseph, Jerry (Dina) Bascue of Gower, MO, and Tammy Bascue of St. Joseph, brothers, Benny, Randy, and Alan Simpson, and a sister, Nila Horne, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Family Memorial Service with Military Honors will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 Thursday at the funeral home.
