Lois E. Barton, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023.
She was born April 16, 1936 in Maysville, Missouri to Fred and Christina (Goerke) Krull. Lois grew up in Maysville, and attended school in Union Star, Missouri, and then Lafayette High School in St. Joseph.
Lois married Basil E. Barton on October 2, 1953. He survives of the home.
After graduating from Castor’s Beauty School, Lois owned and operated her own beauty shop in the North End for 20 years. She later worked for another beauty shop in St. Joseph after selling her own shop.
Lois was a talented seamstress and excellent wallpaper hanger. In her younger years she enjoyed water skiing and bowling, and she still loved to play cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Basil; children, Michael Barton (Becky) and Susie Tymson (Ralph Jr.); grandchildren, Cory Tymson, Tony Barton (April), Zach Tymson, and Aaron Barton (Liz); great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jillian Barton, Scott and Louise Barton, Tenley and Tatum Frederick; nieces, Linda Pawling (Bill) and Lori Godfrey; and brother-in-law, Gary Godfrey.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family requests that visitors please dress casually. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
