Posted Dec 31, 2023 4:25 PM

Connie Campbell, 79, of Saint Joseph, MO, passed away December 27th, 2023. She was born March 29th in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado and spent a lot of her youth traveling when her father would change jobs. Mostly rural locations, she lived in Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and elsewhere. She went to keypunch school in Kansas City, where she met her future husband, John Campbell.

They married June 3, 1963 and remained married until his death on January 5, 2004. While married, both got their Masters Degrees and spent many years around the Independence, Kansas, area as teachers. Connie was especially trained for Behavior Disorder classes, she taught computers as well, since, before becoming a teacher, she and John owned a Radio Shack store.

Connie enjoyed and promoted being a part of any community she lived in. In her earlier years, she was active in PTA, BPW, Red Hats and in her final several years The St. Joseph Welcome Wagon, where she met tremendous friends. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, sewing, crochet, drawing, painting and any little task she could think of a way to fix. However, she also suffered many ailments; diabetes, cancer, open heart surgery, blindness, loss of hearing...it was her liver and kidney that finally got her in the end.

She deeply believed in God, so we believe she is in heaven, driving a motorcycle next to her husband, with her favorite pets running alongside. Her parents and friends waving as she passes by, yelling “I finally made it and I feel so great”.

Connie’s survivors include her two daughters, Tonya Campbell and Cynthia Crooks as well as her younger brother Homer Kibbee and his wonderful family.

Service will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 6, Simplify Cremations & Funerals. Online guest book and obituary at www.simplifyfunerals.com.
