An ethics complaint filed against the St. Joseph School District has been resolved.
And it only cost the district $100.
The St. Joseph School District has reported it has entered an agreement with the Missouri Ethics Commission to resolve the complaint that alleged the district violated state campaign ethics laws during the April 2024 bond issue.
The district will pay $100 to resolve this issue matter as part of the consent order with the Ethics Commission. The district has acknowledged an email was sent to staff reporting that a committee was being formed to support the bond issue. The email gave a schedule of committee meetings. The district acknowledged there is a cost to maintaining a sjsd.k12.mo.us email address.
Aside from the consent order, the district has undertaken steps to ensure compliance with state ethics regulations. A Missouri public school district can inform the public about a ballot measure, but cannot advocate in favor of a bond or a levy issue.
