St. Joseph broke the record low temperature of 39 degrees for May 22 set in 1963, according to the National Weather Service.
The Sunday morning low temperature fell to 36 degrees.
Cooler temperatures will continue across the region and there is also a chase for widespread rain showers and thunderstorms beginning Monday evening and continuing through Wednesday.
