The Kansas City Royals didn't need much offense to secure a series victory over the Los Angeles Angels in Kansas City, earning a 3-0 shutout win one day after having a five game winning streak snapped.

The scoring started in the second inning for the Royals after singles from Hunter Renfroe and Adam Frazier, then a walk to Maikel Garcia to load the bases, center fielder Kyle Isbel would hit a line drive double to right field to bring home Renfroe and Frazier.

A home run from MJ Melendez in the sixth inning would be all Kansas City needed after that.

Starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen put together his best start since being acquired from the Texas Rangers at the trade deadline, pitching seven innings and striking out five, giving up just four hits and walking two.  John Schreiber would get his 20th hold, before Lucas Erceg came on to close the door, striking out two for his sixth save of the season.

Frazier would lead the way hitting going 2 for 3 with one run scored.  Renfroe would also add two hits with one run, but struck out twice.

The Royals are off on Thursday before continuing their six game homestand on Friday, opening a series with the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies.  Michael Wacha is slated to open the series, the Phillies starter yet to be determined.  First pitch is at 7:10, pregame at 6:30 on KFEQ.
