Authorities respond to jumper at Pony Express Bridge Sunday

Authorities responded to a report of a man who jumped into the Missouri River off of the Pony Express Bridge on Sunday morning.

A marine operations unit with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H responded around 9:30am Sunday to the report of a jumper on the bridge.

At 11:15, authorities located an unidentified man 200 yards south of the bridge and 20 feet up a bank on the Missouri side of the river.

The male was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with non-life threatening injuries. No further information on the male's identity or extent of the injuries was available.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H assisted the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Buchanan County EMT and the Doniphan County, KS Sheriff's Office in the response and rescue effort.
