St. Joseph police believe a man taken into custody after verbally threatening neighbors suffers from mental health issues.
The St. Joseph Police Department reports officers responded the area of 30th and Mitchell around 9:30 Wednesday night after reports that a man in his 20s had been making verbal threats to residents. The department says the man verbally threatened officers upon their arrival. After about an hour of negotiations the man surrendered to officers without incident.
The man was not armed, according to police. No charges are expected to stem from the incident.
The man’s name is not being released by police.
