William Orville “Bill” Giles, 87, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away December 1, 2025. Born September 18, 1938, in Saint Joseph to Orville and Stella (Wisneski) Giles.

Bill was one of eight siblings.

He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. On April 23, 1960, he married Joan Elizabeth Christman, a Convent of the Sacred Heart alumna. Together, they shared 64 blessed years of marriage.

Although not raised on a farm, Bill’s adventurous spirit led him and Joan to purchase a farm near Clarksdale soon after their wedding. He learned farming through hard work and hands-on experience, dedicating himself to agriculture until his children were raised.

During these years he also worked at Johnson Controls in Saint Joseph. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he was always ready to assist others, despite his busy schedule.

Bill found joy in spending time with his family. He loved playing sports in the backyard with his four children and continued the tradition with his grandchildren well into his later years.

Bill Giles will be remembered for his dedication to family and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joan Giles; siblings Delores Lorenz, Dorothy Kretzer, Susie Stone, Betty Saverino and Jim Giles; and beloved son Jeff Giles.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: David Giles, Tracy (John) Bennett and Shannon (Shawna) Giles; daughter-in-law Dina Giles; and siblings Marjorie Mahlandt and Richard Giles. His legacy also lives on through grandchildren: Emma, Jake, Sam, Alexandra, Sadie and Chloe Giles, Lucy (Trenton) Kuhlman, and Caroline (Logan) Horning; great-grandson Steffan Jeffrey Kuhlman; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday December 8th, 2025 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Starting with the Rosary at 12:00 noon followed by memorial service beginning at 12:30. Private family inurnment at Mount Olivet to follow.
