BUCHANAN COUNTY — Two people were injured in an accident just after 2p.m. Friday in Buchanan County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Nevaeh M. Phelps, 18, Jefferson City, was northbound on the Belt Highway in St. Joseph.
The driver was unable to stop and rear-ended a 2021 GMC Terrain driven by Traci M. Peetoom, 44, Savannah who was stopped in traffic. The impact pushed the SUV into a 2016 Nissan Rogue driven by William R. Swartz, 72, Union Star.
Buchanan County EMS transported Phelps and a passenger in the Camry Terri L. Popeka, 19, Toledo, Iowa, to Mosaic Life Care.
Peetoom and Swartz were not injured. All five were properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
