St. Joseph man injured after motorcycle accident

BUCHANAN COUNTY—A St. Joseph man was injured in an accident just after 4:30p.m. Thursday in Buchanan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Harley Davidson driven by Gerald D. Smock, Jr., 54, St. Joseph, was northbound on Interstate 29 just north of U.S. 36 in the driving lane. 

The motorcycle changed lanes, traffic slowed and the driver locked up his brakes, traveled off the west side of the road, returned to the road, skidded off the road and came to rest in the median.

Buchanan County EMS transported Smock to Mosaic. He was wearing a helmet, according to the MSHP.
