Albert James Hale, 96, of Atchison, KS, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Albert was born December 1, 1929, near Parnell, KS, the son of Albert Wayne and Ida Jane (Hattan) Hale. As a young man Albert moved with his family from Parnell to a farm west of Atchison where he farmed and lived until his death. He attended Fairground Grade School. Albert was known as a man of few words. Albert married Ruby Green on August 19, 1950, at the First Christian Church, Atchison, KS, they celebrated 72 years of marriage in August 2022. Albert and Ruby raised a family of four boys and two girls. Albert enjoyed farming and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, David and Alana Hale, Cummings, KS, Gerald (Roxanne Tosterud) Hale, Atchison, KS, James and Carol Hale, Atchison, KS, daughters, Nancy (Curt Muessig) Hauetter, Kansas City, MO, Sarah and Luke Erpelding, Atchison, KS, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son Roy Wayne Hale, a brother Hugh Hale, sisters, Inger (Rupert) Martin, Hazel (Rupert) Roloff, Grace (Rupert) Cowley, Lila (Rupert) Woods, Lois (Hale) Stevens and Ida Louise Cantwell.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Croix Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
