Masyn Winn hit a home run and doubled twice, Kyle Leahy gave up three hits and struck out six across five innings, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 at Great American Ballpark.
Leahy improved to 10-4 with the win. Riley O’Brien pitched the ninth to earn his 32nd save of the season, striking out one, as the Cardinals' earned their ninth shutout win of the season and the Reds were shuout for the 12th time. It marked the first time Winn had two doubles in a game since July 28th, 2025 against the Marlins. After hitting three home runs in his Major League debut, it's bee a struggle for Cardinals left fielder Joshua Báez who went 0-for-3, but did record an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Since his three home run debut, Baez is now 0-for-17 with seven strikeouts.
Winn's home run off Reds starter Andrew Abbott in the fifth inning put the Cardinals ahead 1-0. It was Winn's fifth homer of the season and his first since July 3rd. Winn hit his first double of the game in the second inning, and his second in the seventh, scoring the second run of the game in the very next at bat on a double by José Fermín. Báez's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning brought home the final run of the game, scoring Jordan Walker after his leadoff single in the inning.
St. Louis will look to secure a series win tomorrow against Cincinnati. Matthew Liberatore (5-10, 5.07 ERA, 116Ks) starts for the Cardinals against Chase Burns (14-2, 2.47 ERA, 151Ks) for the Reds. First pitch will be at 5:40pm, coverage starts at 5:30pm on KY 102 (102.5 FM).
