It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Daniel Donan on September 22, 2023. Born on March 14, 1972, Dan was an unforgettable presence in the lives of everyone he met, remembered for his love, enthusiasm, and willingness to take the road less traveled.
He leaves behind Rhys Donan, his loving son. His mother, Juanita Donan, his partner Melanie Stewart, his sisters, Jeanette Westfall and Mariann Hawk, and his cousins, Pinetree Donan and Gwenevere Helzer, also survive him, carrying with them the love and wisdom he imparted. He also leaves behind too many friends to count, all who consider themselves fortunate to have known and loved him.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Robert Donan, whom he held in treasured memory. The two enjoyed a great adult friendship and had many a political argument over the kitchen table.
Known for his adventure-seeking spirit, Daniel loved role-playing games and venturing into the depths of the imagination. These fantastical journeys were not merely a pastime, but a reflection of his own approach to life: one of curiosity, courage, and boundless exploration.
Dan loved deeply and lived fully, enriching the lives of those around him with his passion, empathy, and infectious humor.
The greatest lesson he left behind was the echoes of his mantra: "Enjoy your life." Through these words, Daniel encouraged us all to savor every moment, find joy in the simplest of things, and above all, to love and be loved.
