James Richard Large, 77, a lifelong resident of Weston, MO passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital, in Kansas City, MO. Jim was born December 18, 1946, in Leavenworth, KS to Lewis Calvert and Mary Catherine (Buckler) Large. He was a 1964 graduate of West Platte High School in Weston. Jim married Sharon Kay Faudere on March 27, 1965, in Platte City, MO. He worked for De Laval in Kansas City for many years. Jim was an active member of the Weston community, where he served as city councilman for two terms; and was involved with Jaycees for many years. He enjoyed playing slow pitch softball, coaching girl’s summer league softball for many years, and was a highly competitive driver in the Platte County Fairgrounds demolition derbies. He also enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family at their lake house at Lake of the Ozarks. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister Denise Lynn Large; and his son in law Brian Fannon. He is survived by his wife Sharon; his daughter Leanna Fannon (John); his son Robert Large (Karen); grandchildren Logan Fannon (Jessica), Joshua Large (Neka), Caleb Large, Kenisen Large, and Conlan Large; his brothers Denny and Terry Large; his sisters Cindy Masoner, and Kathie Jones; numerous nieces and nephews; and Jim was especially fond of his two great granddaughters Rosie and Greta Fannon. Following cremation, a visitation will be held 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston; followed by a 3:00 p.m. memorial service.
