Nayib Elias Cattan, 78, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away June 20th, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care surrounded by family. He was the husband of Cheryl Cattan and they shared 23 years of marriage together.
Nayib was born in Quillota, Chile on July 24th, 1944. He was the son of Elias Cattan and Berta Parra Arroyo and brother to Norma, Nicodemes, Betty, Iris, and Orlando. He went on to own his own restaurant in Hawaii and later became the head waiter for American Hawaiian Cruise Line. This is where he met his “Honey” Cheryl. They were married on February 15th in the year 2000. He gained three children, Patty (Tom Shipley), Scott (Heather Thompson), and Jeanette (David Moran). Today, he has seven grandchildren Baylee (Jacob Meers), Jazmyn (Kody Wegenka), Dylan and Alayna Weaklend, Wyatt Thompson, Hailey Brown, and Harper Moran. He has three great grandchildren Bentley, Braxten and Beau. He also inherited by marriage five Rickel brothers and four sisters. Nayib was the owner and operator of the Riviera in Cameron, Mo. He was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed.
There will be a visitation in Cameron, Mo Friday June 23rd from 5-7pm at the Poland-Thompson funeral home. On Saturday June 24th at Heaton- Bowman- Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Mo, visitation will be held at 10am and the funeral will be held at 11am. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
To honor our “Papa”, the family asks that Saturday everyone wear a Hawaiian shirt to the service.
