St. Joseph Symphony celebrates Beethoven and Missouri Theatre in new season

The St. Joseph Symphony has announced its upcoming season filled with music celebrating the life of Beethoven along with the 100th anniversary of the historic Missouri Theatre.

Executive Director Nancy Schmidt-Brunson highlights the two themes which will be offered with this season's lineup.

“2027 marks the 100th anniversary of the Missouri Theater as well as the 200th anniversary of the death of Beethoven. We will celebrate the Missouri Theater’s past with film scores and songs in both our MasterWorks and Chamber series," Schmidt-Brunson says in a news release. "To celebrate Beethoven, we have a very special guest artist, internationally acclaimed pianist and Cliburn international Piano Competition medalist Sean Chen will perform Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto on our final concert of the season.”

The season will also continue the symphony’s commitment to music education and community outreach through youth concerts and school partnerships and programs serving audiences across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.
