Allied Arts Council officials report its fund-raiser met its $235,000 goal, even during a very difficult time to raise money.
Arts Fund Co-Chairs Denies Meyer and Janie Findley say the money will support the work of Creative Arts Productions, Performing Arts Association, RiverSong, Robidoux Resident Theatre, St. Joseph Community Chorus, Saint Joseph Symphony, and the Allied Arts Council.
St. Joseph Mayor Bill McMurray awarded Marla Heeler 2020 Artist of the Year and R. Vance Baldwin Arts Educator of the Year. Mary Shuman has been named Outstanding Volunteer. Calvin Kress is the 2020 Youth Artist with Barry Birr being recognized for Individual Leadership. Thomas P. Smith has been honored with the Extraordinary Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Board of Directors elected Lee Ann Smiley as President, Terri Modlin as 1st Vice President, Liby Waltermath at 2nd Vice President, Tona Williams as Secretary, and Brendon Clark as Treasurer.
