St. Joseph health officials report spike in new COVID-19 cases

St. Joseph health officials report 104 new coronavirus cases since last issuing a report on Monday.

A big spike in COVID-19 cases came on Wednesday and Thursday. The St. Joseph Health Department reports 52 cases both days, the highest number of new cases since July 1st, when the department reported 55 new cases.

Buchanan County has a 13.2% positivity rate.

Buchanan County has recorded 11,304 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, resulting in a total of 186 deaths.

The county vaccination rate remains low with 16,923 residents completing their vaccinations, only 19.4% of the county population.

Mosaic Life Care reports it is treating 40 COVID-19 patients in its system, all at the St. Joseph hospital.
