Roy Leslie Beers 73, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital. He was born September 20, 1950 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Gladys and Harold Beers.
He married Opal "Candy" Martinez on March 16, 1970 and she survives of the home. Roy served in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Storm, retiring as a Sergeant 1st class after 22 years of service. He was very proud of his military service. He later worked at Nestle Purina and retired from there after 25 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbecuing and loved the 4th of July, riding motorcycles, he also loved animals and helping people.
Roy was preceded in death by parents, and a sister, Alberta Benton.
Survivors include wife, Opal "Candy" Beers of the home, daughters, Misty (Andre) Long, Leslie (Danny) Parker, and Brianne (Reed) Steele of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle), Zachary (Brie), Ethan, Jacob, Jaxton, Rowan, and Emery, great grandsons, Theo & Beckham and his twin sister, Joy (Dalton) Hodge.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at a late date.
