Matt was born August 18th 1959 to Bessie (Wagers) and Robert Pettijohn in St. Joseph, MO. Matt passed from this world February 27th. 2026, joining his parents and brother Billy. Leaving behind his soul mate Mary Caw, 2 "kids" dogs Purdy and Stinker, brothers Frank and Jesse, his sisters Ginie, Teresa, Pat and Bessie, his 14 nieces and nephews that he entertained, educated and encouraged. His storytelling along with his infectious laugh will be a treasured memory for us all. Matt has been described as a Mechanic, Artist, and a Comedian, but recently and most importantly he was described as a "Character" -an interesting and or unusual individual. A character we are all grateful and blessed to have been a part of his life and his ours.
Private family services will be held.
Mr. Pettijohn has been cremated under the care and direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel.
Memorial donations in lieu of floral arrangements are suggested to be directed to The Friends of St. Joseph Animal Shelter in Memory of Roy Matthew Pettijohn.
