St. Joseph city officials will expand the mask mandate, beginning Thursday.

St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce officials have issued a news release to members stating the city will issue a declaration requiring individuals to wear face coverings or masks when indoors with the exception of residences.

Employees will be required to wear masks unless a six-foot distance can be maintained from customers and other employees.

The Chamber has informed members all customers entering a business will be required to wear a mask. Children and people with medical conditions will be exempt. Those sitting at in a restaurant or bar will not be required to wear a mask nor will those receiving services which require the face covering to be removed.

Face coverings will not be required outdoors.

The order goes into effect at 12:01am Thursday and will be in place for 30 days.
