ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new allegations after an arrest.
Shortly after 11p.m. Tuesday police officers responded to a disturbance involving two people in a parking lot in the 400 block U.S. 59 in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
During the investigation at the scene of the disturbance, police found convicted felon Shalamar Allen, 43, Kansas City in possession of a gun
Based on his criminal history, police took him into custody on requested charges of criminal possession of a weapon and possession of marijuana, according to Wilson.
Allen has previous convictions for theft, obstruction and for drug possession, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
