As Missourians head out for the long holiday weekend, the State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to drive safely and obey traffic laws.
“We’re going to be conducting hazardous moving operations, click-it or ticket operations as well as DWI saturations,” says Sgt. Jake Angle with Troop H. “We want everybody to have a safe Labor Day weekend. Obviously, if you’re out and about traveling, put that seatbelt on, I don’t care if you’re going a mile or 100 miles, you can literally save your own life by putting that seatbelt on. Put your phones down, give 100% of your attention to the job of driving.”
Angle says motorists are encouraged to dial *55 on their cell phone if they see criminal activity or have an emergency. That number will connect the caller to the nearest troop headquarters.
The holiday weekend counting period runs from 6 p.m. Friday to Monday at midnight.
