James D. “Jim” Rogers, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024.
He was born June 21, 1950, in Marysville, Kansas to Glen and Julia (Miller) Rogers.
He graduated from Holton High School in 1968 and later attended Highland Community College.
He served with the United States National Guard in Kansas for six years.
Jim was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in St. Joseph.
He spent 50 years working as a newspaper pressman/foreman, working at Kansas State Collegian, Holton Recorder and later at Manhattan Mercury, where he retired in 2016.
Jim married Susan Ruhnke on September 16, 1972, in Hiawatha, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Jim enjoyed wood working, an interest he inherited from his father. Together they crafted special gifts for family members and also sold these items at craft shows.
He was a model train enthusiast with a collection of model train sets, along with John Deere and other classic tractors and farming equipment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Julia Rogers; brother-in-law, Jerry Bueker; and sister-in-law, Marcia Janzen.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Susan Rogers; sister, Terry Bueker; sister-in-law, Joan (Don) Peterson; brother-in-law, Jim (Marge) Ruhnke; several nieces, nephews, their families and many friends left to cherish his memory.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment Highland Cemetery, Highland, Kansas.
