Janet M. Loveless 1942 - 2024

Janet M. Loveless, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024. 

She was born July 24, 1942 in Fort Myers, Florida to James and Elinor (Burt) Lewis. 

She grew up in Fort Myers, then moved to Washington, D.C., after her high school graduation. She worked at the Pentagon, where she met the love of her life, James William “Jim” Loveless, whom she married March 4, 1962. He survives of the home.

After Jim’s service in the Army ended, the couple moved back to the Northwest Missouri area. Together they owned and operated Imperial Super Gas in St. Joseph.

Janet loved flowers, sewing and quilting. She and her friends created the Tuesday Floozies Quilting Group that met yes, every Tuesday, to get together and work on projects. Her sewing expertise was known far and wide, with people often seeking her out for sewing advice.

She was a longtime member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, where she also was a member of the Triple M Class. She also belonged to the PEO Sisterhood.

Known as a giver who never met a stranger, Janet was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jim; son, Bruce Loveless (Diane); daughter, Gwynn Loveless (Greg Marriott); grandchildren, Boston Loveless (Alle), London Day (Noah), and Lauren Wood (James); great-grandchildren, Rory Scott Loveless and Elijah James Wood; and brother, John Lingley (Amanda Lawrence).

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri.
