Nathaniel Seymore March 21, 1962-November 16, 2025

Nathaniel Seymore, a resident of Atchison, KS, passed peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the NorthCare Hospice House in Kansas City, MO, after a brief illness.

He was born on March 21, 1962, in Atchison, KS, the son of Theodore “Pete” Seymore and Clara Mae (Rogers) Seymore. He is a graduate of Atchison High School.

He worked for a period of time in the oil fields before returning to Atchison. Nate, also known as “Skater,” was always the local handyman for his friends and family.

Nate had a loving spirit; he lived his life relatively carefree in the background of the world around him. He enjoyed being quiet, just soaking up the scenery around him. He loved to fish and enjoy the life of the outdoors and the peace that nature brought to him. He will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.

Nate spent over twenty-one years with his life partner, Alta Cushinberry. They enjoyed each other and brought happiness to one another and those around them. Alta passed on April 16, 2021.

Left to remember Nate and carry on his legacy include his children, Leighton Cushinberry, Nesha Seymore, Isaiah Seymore, Laura D. Cushinberry, Laurene Cushinberry Ray Jackson, Jr., Nicole Jones and Leston Cushinberry. He has eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three surviving siblings, Coyetta (Leonard) Green, Doug Seymore and Larry Seymore and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Dorothy Wilson, Theodore Seymore, Jr., Paul Seymore and William Seymore.

Cremation care has been provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Nate chose to have no formal funeral services.
