Gerald D. Birkinsha, Jr., 58, of Atchison, KS, was found on Tuesday, March 24th, 2026, following an accident at his home.
Gerald was born on Sept. 24th, 1967, in Atchison, KS, the son of Gerald D. and Helen P. (Lutz) Birkinsha, Sr. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1986 and attended a Vo-Tech school in Kansas City studying auto mechanics. Gerald worked several different places, including Atchison Sheriff's Office, as a truck driver, then at the Atchison Walmart, and presently as a laborer/loader for the Grain Craft Elevator, Atchison, KS. He enjoyed going fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter and husband, Courtney (Jerimiah) Mirante, Leavenworth, KS, a son and wife, Kevan (Alexis) Birkinsha, Atchison, KS, a brother and his wife, Nelson E. (Karen) Birkinsha, Atchison, KS, and nine grandchildren. His parents, two brothers Brian and Anthony Birkinsha, and one grandchild Rennly Estelle Mirante preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
