Carol K. Henderson, 70, of Atchison, KS, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her home.
A memorial service will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Chuck Tilton officiating. Carol has been cremated under the direct care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas. Carol was born August 15, 1953, to Jesse and Mildred (Busch) Smith Sr. in Atchison, KS. Carol was a graduate from the Job Corp. earning a trade certificate and GED. By her fourth child, Carol decided to be a stay-at-home mom, raising the children, and taking care of the household. Carol enjoyed teaching her children different crafts from how to catch a ball to baiting a hook to catch a fish. She also enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood, picking up cans she found along the way, planting flowers, painting, putting together a puzzle, sitting down with her crossword, watching NASCAR races, and wrestling matches, and collecting anything wolf related. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Carol is survived by her four children, Lamar (Carla) Henderson, Atchison, KS, Theresa (Erick) Martinez, Atchison, KS, Diane (Chris) Higginbotham, Atchison, KS, and Bobbie (Jason) Evans, Portageville, MO, brothers, Jesse (Kim) Smith Jr, Earl Smith, Michael Smith, Tim Smith, sisters Linda Cross, Joan Schumaker, and Mary Frisbie, seventeen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Carol is preceded by both of her parents and sister Vera Smith.
