Rosemarie Holmes, 87, better known as "Rose", "Rita", "Mama", "Grandma", and "Tete Rose" passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, February 17, 2023, in Eudora, Ks. surrounded by her family.
Rosemarie was born on June 15, 1935, in Leavenworth, Ks. to her loving parents Howard and Mattie Chase. She was the second of three children. She was raised in Leavenworth but resided many years in San Diego with her loving husband Lonnie Holmes and their children. She worked many years as a school bus monitor for the Leavenworth School District.
In 1954, Rosemarie and Lawrence Washington welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world named Pamela "Pam" Washington. In 1957 Rosemarie married Lonnie A. Holmes the love of her life, and from this union they welcomed five beautiful children, Lonnie Jr., Connie, Donnie "Don", Bonnie, and Yvonne Holmes.
Rosemarie was loved and respected by all who knew her and a confidant to many. She loved fashion, White Diamonds perfume, sports, food, music, dancing, riding on the back of her husband's motorcycle, movies, jokes, telling family stories, assisting her great granddaughter, Kalyssa with genealogy research, and most of all she loved the Lord and her family.
She had an enormous amount of faith and was truly an angel on earth. She will be remembered as a kind, caring, spiritual, wise, phenomenal woman and matriarch. She was truly unparalleled. She will forever be loved to the moon and back.
Rosemarie's parents Howard and Mattie, sister; Marion and brother; Howard "Buddy" Jr., loving husband of 37 years; Lonnie, and children Lonnie Jr. and Yvonne proceeded her in death.
She is survived by her children Pamela Stewart, Connie Holmes, Donnie Holmes, and Bonnie Holmes as well as 8 grandchildren John Clark, Wayne Clark, Svonne (Angelo) Gordon-Hay, Nicholas (Morgan) Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Griffen Warren, Lonnie Holmes, and Tyler (Tania) Holmes, a host of great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and extended family.
Visitation will be 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 3, 2023 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 A.M. Graveside service will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
