Mary Jane Woody 79, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at her home. She was born July 21, 1945 in Salisbury, MO, daughter of Wilner and David Zahner.
She spent much of her youth growing up in Easton, Missouri. On January 12, 1974, she married James Woody at Savannah Ave Baptist Church. She worked at Noma Lites, Sherwood Medical, and retired from Mead Products. Mary enjoyed writing poetry, loved the Kansas City Chiefs, and going fishing. She was an active member of Hope Fellowship Church.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, James Woody, her parents, infant twin sister, Margaret Jean Zahner, brothers, Jerry Zahner, Jewell "Ray" Zahner, and James Zahner.
Survivors include: children, James (Barbie) Woody Jr. of Abilene, KS, Daniel Woody of St. Joseph, and Amanda (Todd) Daly of St. Joseph, sisters, Patricia Bish of Kansas City, MO and Lula (Norman) Jones, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Hope Fellowship Church with Pastor Earnestine Blakley officiating. Ms. Woody will be cremated following services. Inurnment will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, at Ashland Cemetery.
