One dead, multiple injured in single vehicle rollover accident on I-29 Saturday morning

One person is dead and multiple others, many of them juvenile's, were injured following a single vehicle rollover accident along I-29 Saturday morning.  

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that at around 10:40am, a 2004 Ford Expedition, driven by a 34-year-old male from St. Joseph, Missouri, experienced a blowout of the rear driver's side tire.  The driver lost control, and the vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway before overturning multiple times.  The vehicle came to rest on its roof, facing northwest.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  The next of kin has been notified and his body was transported to Meierhoffer Funeral Home.  The vehicle was occupied by 11 individuals total, including the driver.  A 36 year old female passenger received minor injuries in the accident.  The other injuries were all suffered by juvenile's and all occupants were wearing their safety harnesses. 

A 16 year old female, 14 year old female, and 13 year old female passenger, all of Leavenworth, Kansas, received serious injuries.  A 10 year old male and eight year old female, both of Leavenworth as well, and three year old female passenger, of St. Joseph, received minor injuries, while a two year old female passenger, also of St. Joseph, received moderate injuries.  Two female infants from St Joseph received no injuries.

Several were taken directly to Children's Mercy Hospital, while others were first transported to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph before being transferred to Children's Mercy Hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer reports the names of crash victims
