Amity, Missouri…..Thomas Alton Barnett, Jr., age 62, was born June 17, 1961 in Milton, Florida the son of Thomas Alton Barnett, Sr. and Sharon Rose (Gibbany) Barnett. Tom passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 22, 2024.
Thomas and Julie Lynn Swope were united in marriage November 29, 2008 in Stewartsville, Missouri. Tom or “Tommy” as he was well-known for, loved to fish, hunt, camp, and ride motorcycles. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Tommy was a lover of all music and was a member of two bands, Dry Bones and Amazing Grace. He could play a multitude of instruments including: guitar, mandolin, drums, and harmonica. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Stewartsville, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School Leader. He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends. He also loved to go down to Jim’s Shop and have a cup of coffee.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife Julie of the home; children, Kent Barnett of Urbandale, IA , April (Travis) Allen of South Weber, UT, Whitney (Brandon) Phelps of St. Joseph, and Dillon Clemens of San Antonio, TX; parents, Thomas and Sharon Barnett; sister, Terri Barnett of Stewartsville; and five grandchildren, Jace and Cade Allen, Izolde Parmenter, and Scout & Sawyer Phelps.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church Stewartsville with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Services under the care of Turner Family Funeral Home of Stewartsville. Inurnment will be at Old School Presbyterian Cemetery in Stewartsville, at a later date.
