George Elliott Hobson, 79, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully on January 14,2024. George was born on February 22, 1944, in Torrington to Harold and Violet (Kulhanek)Hobson. George was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 42 years, Edwina (Garner).
Hewas well known for his sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. His favorite hobby was playing the bagpipes, performing with a local group in full Scottish regalia for many years.
George loved his country, serving in the Army 1966-1972, his community, and he had a deep faith in Jesus.
George is survived by his wife, Edwina; his daughters Margaret (Mark) Todd of N. Charleston, SC and Misty (Aaron) Cox of Lee’s Summit, MO; his sons Michael (Jennifer) Hobson of Summerville, SC; Eric (Jennifer) Hobson of Walterboro, SC; Philip (Kristina) Hobson of Oak Grove, MO. He is also survived by his brothers Richard Hobson of Aurora, CO and Fred Hobson of McPherson, KS as well as seventeen grandchildren (Ariel, Grace, Sophia, Caleb, Kelsey Posatiere, Stephen, Mikaylee, Liberty, Michael Zalea, Brandon Hitchins, William, Kyle, Preston, Grayson, Gabriel, Devin, and Bryce) and 11 great grandchildren (Kaylee, Riley, Rivers, Ronan, Barrett, Vera, Ezra, Zoey, Lucy, Sophie, and Elijah).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Violet Hobson, and his son Donnie Leven.
