The St. Joseph Mustangs lost at Clarinda 1-0 Wednesday behind a complete-game shutout from A's pitcher Jay Kennedy.
The Mustangs managed six hits, but stranded nine total runners on base. Kennedy struck out seven Mustang batters and only walked one.
Clarinda scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the fifth inning. St. Joseph had the tying run on base in the ninth, but were unable to score.
Ryker Curry tossed eight strong innings for St. Joseph, allowing just one earned run. He struck out seven and walked three.
At 28-15 overall, the Mustangs are still in first place in the MINK League North Division.
The Mustangs have just four regular season games remaining. They’ll play at Chillicothe on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
