Dave Paden, born August 27, 1920, in Elwood, Kansas, passed away peacefully at the age of 105, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, devotion, and deep love for his family.

He was born to James Wesley and Cora Jane and from humble beginnings grew into a man defined by strength, loyalty, and quiet determination. He was preceded in death by Steve (Teresa Staley) Paden, Michael (Jody) Paden and Georgia (Max) Pfrimmer. Dave is survived by his children, Sharaon (Jack) Wineinger and Gary (Carolyn) Paden, Charla Parker (Mark) Myers, Charles Tom (Linda) Dowdy, and Curtis Dowdy. He had several nieces and nephews and over 52 grand, great and great-great grandchildren.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. His service took him to the South Pacific and Hawaii, where he endured and survived two hurricanes—an experience that reflected the grit and perseverance he carried throughout his life.

Dave was a man of simple joys and steady passions. He loved working the land, especially tending his garden, where tomatoes and strawberries flourished under his care. He was also an avid outdoorsman who found peace and purpose in hunting and fishing—whether duck, deer, or casting a line in quiet waters.

He was dedicated to his career and retired from Seitz, where he earned recognition for his efforts, including an award and a letter of accomplishment—testaments to his strong work ethic and character.

He was married to Billie for 38 years with whom he shared 5 children. He was a proud father and is honored his legacy lives on in each of them.

Dave was a family man at his core. He was married to Mickey for 45 years. Their connection grew into a lasting bond, and she remained a steady wife and a loving presence in his life until her passing in 2022. For many years they traveled all over, from coast to coast. Living in Clinton, Blue Springs and Houston. While living in Houston they loved eating at restaurants and sharing lots of seafood with Tom and Linda.

He was always a huge sports fan. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals whether they were winning or losing. He spent many years in Houston and also loved the Houston Texans and Astros. Most of his leisure time was spent watching his favorite teams play. He was an active person himself, walking miles each day to remain strong and healthy.

Most importantly, Dave was a Christian. His life had meaning from his faith. He raised all of his kids to believe and walk with Jesus. He lived a great 105 years on this earth. Never losing hope or his love for Christ.

Dave also carried deep personal sorrow, having lost three children during his life—a grief he once described simply and profoundly as “a hole in my heart.” Despite this, he continued forward with strength, love, and commitment to those around him.

Dave Paden will be remembered for his service, his quiet strength, his love of the outdoors, and above all, his enduring devotion to family and faith. His life was one of perseverance, love, and legacy, and he will be deeply missed.
