Gail Coker-Carr August 17, 1946-December 13, 2025

Gail Lynn (Adolph) Coker-Carr, 79, of Hiawatha, formerly of Valley Falls, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.  She was born on August 17, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas to the late Clarance Adolph, Jr. and Betty (Anderson) Adolph.  She was a member of the graduating class of 1964 at Valley Falls High School.  

Gail loved to sew and loved to travel.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the local Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She also spent countless hours and years volunteering at the Brown County Genealogical Society.  

Gail was married to John V. Coker from 1967 until his death in 1980.  To this union, four children were born.  Gail married Charles C. Carr, Jr. in 1989.   He preceded her in death in 2023.  She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Johna A. Coker, and a sister, Marcina Wall.

She is survived by her children: John Damon Coker (Denise) of Valley Falls; Laura Coker of Corpus Christi, Texas; Alan Coker (Kristy) of Valley Falls; and Lynne Coker of Topeka; grandchildren: Jarrett Frederick, Danielle Frederick, Courtney (Stephen) Lane, Karlie Coker, and Avery Coker; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters: Linda White of Scranton and Cindy (Bob) Parks of Topeka.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 19, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hiawatha, Kansas.  Lunch will be provided following the service.  A private burial at St. Mary’s Immaculate Catholic Cemetery in Valley Falls will be at a later date. 

 Memorial contributions can be made to the Brown County Genealogical Society and mailed to Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S. 7th Street, Hiawatha, Kansas 66434.

Friends may sign the register book Wednesday or Thursday at the Funeral Home.
