Nancy J. Reys (Houghton), 77, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025.
She was born December 4, 1947 in Altamont, Missouri to George and Lorraine (Higgins) Houghton.
Nancy married Donald L. Reys on October 6, 1976. They later parted ways but cherished the time they had together.
She was a secretary for Vocational Rehabilitation for 35-plus years, and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph.
Nancy loved to cook and do canning. Her family looked forward to her elderberry wine and jelly each year. She loved to sew, especially sock quilts for her family. She also enjoyed making collages, photography, traveling, and was a big animal lover. Her favorite place was outdoors, collecting wildflowers and spending time at her family’s cabin.
Nancy was happiest being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She really loved her family and her great-grandchildren made her world.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Houghton; and brother-in-law, Don Wilford.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlee Bowers (James Neidel); grandchildren, Sadee Lofts (Collin), Seth Neidel (Maddie), Scott Neidel (Halle), Preston Bowers (Katie), Kenlee Bowers, and Max Bowers; great-grandchildren, Blaklee and Beckett; best friend, Katherine Miller (Housewirth-Cole); another daughter, Lisa Kellison Bailey, and her children, Aarron, Metchel, and Wesley; siblings, Carol Wilford, Theresa Hathaway (Barry), Pat Thomas (Doug), and Jerry Houghton; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 3:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
