Next week will begin Missouri Western's annual Entrepreneurship Week, which aims to help educate business owners new and old alike.

Director for the Center of Entrepreneurship Annette Weeks says that she is excited to have this event return to the spring once again.

"If you remember, we've had to switch it to summer for the last two years when the pandemic was going on," Weeks tells KFEQ Hotline host Barry Birr. "So, we're excited to have it back in the spring during the semester, and the students will also be involved with it as well."

Weeks adds there will be many different events throughout the week.

"We've got many workshops, events, Capstone Luncheon, we put it all into one week so we can focus on entrepreneurs, they can block their schedules out to come to these workshops," Weeks says. "Cup of Joe is going to be on campus as well."

The event will run March 14th through the 18th on the Missouri Western campus, with 15 different seminars throughout the week.

Weeks says the seminar kicking off the week on Monday, will be about how to write a business plan.

"I will be doing that along with Jennifer Brown from St. Joseph Title, so that's just setting the plan for your business, so I strongly encourage entrepreneurs, business owners to come to that one," Weeks says. "If you even have a business plan, you've never written a business plan for your business, it really makes you look at all aspects of your business."

Weeks says on Thursday, business owners will get a chance to learn all about numbers.

"I think this is so important for businesses many of them run their businesses, but they don't run them by the numbers," Weeks explains. "So, people will ask me how important are the numbers, and I say are you making more money than you want to?"

Weeks adds that if you aren't making more money than you want to, than business owners need to drill in more on their numbers.

Weeks also says these seminars are good for non-profits.

"We have many non-profits attend this workshop," Weeks says. "Cause non-profits, they're out there, they're having to do marketing, they're having to understand their numbers, they're having to do, they don't call them sales, but they have to bring in money as well."

The seminars are free to attend throughout the week, registration is not required but is recommended.  The week will cap off with the Capstone Business Luncheon on March 18th.  The luncheon will cost $20 and require registration.  Seating is limited
