BATES COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 2:30a.m. Wednesday in Bates County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1992 Ford Fiesta driven by James R. Beckman, 43, El Dorado Springs, was westbound on Missouri B one mile east of Interstate 49.
The vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2008 Ford Escort driven by Jennifer A. Young, 36, Rich Hill, head-on.
Beckman was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Bates County Coroner. EMS transported Young to the Bates County Hospital.
Beckman was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
