Audrey L. Jahnke, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024.
She was born December 15, 1933 in New Athens, Illinois, to William John Stolte, Jr., and Myrtle Lucy (Burke) Stolte. She grew up in New Athens.
Audrey married Harvey D. Jahnke, Sr. on February 10, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2015.
Audrey was a military wife, traveling the world with Harvey’s career. After 20 years of service, Harvey retired and moved the family to St. Joseph.
She was the manager of the Infants Department at North Belt Kmart for 28 years before retirement.
Family was most important to Audrey. She loved her kids and grandkids dearly and even raised a couple of them.
Audrey also enjoyed crocheting and trips to the lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harvey; her parents; and siblings, Roger Stolte, Marie Neville-Scott, and Chris Stolte.
Survivors include her children, Harvey Jahnke, Jr. (Linda), Nancy Root (Richard), and Rhonda Stevens (Charles); grandchildren, Shannon Jahnke, Harvey Weaklend, Tina Brock, Tamara Ricardez, Ryan Root, James McAdams, and Molly Vecsey; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill Stolte and Sally Sedlacek; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and beloved dogs, Bella, River and Barkely.
Services 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 12, Simplify Cremations & Funerals. Interment Ashland Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
