Doug Fuller 1944 - 2024

Doug Fuller, 80, St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024.

He was born June 29, 1944 in Selma, Alabama to E.B. and Helen (Harder) Fuller. He grew up in Selma, graduating from Suttle High School in 1962, then attending Marion Military Institute in Alabama.

After relocating to the Sedalia, Missouri, area in 1967, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He met Marjorie Hazel Coleman in Sedalia, and they were married August 19, 1967. They later divorced. Doug married Rhonda Kay Groneweg on April 1, 1988.

Doug began his lengthy career in cable television in Sedalia before joining St. Joseph Cablevision in 1967, where he worked for 31 years. After retirement, he stayed on as a consultant for many years. He enjoyed mentoring others and sharing his entrepreneurial knowledge.

An adventuresome, outgoing, ornery fellow, Doug enjoyed riding motorcycles and doing motorcycle trials in his early years, then later on developed a love for sailing and sailboat racing. He was a member of the Boca Ciega Yacht Club, and he and Rhonda enjoyed sailing to many vacation destinations, including the Caribbean.

Doug loved sharing his time and sense of humor with his family, especially his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; daughter, Stephanie Wegenka (David); grandchildren, Jessica, Parker and Connor Wegenka; stepchildren, Marcy Hopkins (Pal) and Kevin Stewart; step- grandchildren, Zakerie Stewart (Amanda), Cody Hopkins (Hannah), Austin Hopkins (Esther), and Maddison Hopkins; step-great-grandchildren, Layla, Bentley, Lexie, Joanna, and Anabella; former wife, Marjorie; brother, Dale Fuller (Gail); other extended family and friends.

The family will gather with friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 5, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
