Los Angeles Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski tossed six scoreless innings to help the Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 at Busch Stadium to snap a four-game losing streak for Los Angeles.
Dustin May took the loss, falling to 3-3 on the season, allowing three runs on seven hits, while striking out three and walking two, in six innings in his first career start against the Dodgers since they traded him to Boston on July 31st last season. The loss also snapped a winning streak, as St. Louis had won six straight heading into Sunday’s contest.
Andy Pages hit an RBI double to left field, driving in Kyle Tucker after his leadoff double, and Hyeseong Kim followed with an RBI single to right field, scoring Max Muncy, in the second inning to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. Freddie Freeman extended that lead in the fifth inning, stroking a two-out RBI single up the middle to bring home Kim to add a run to the lead.
Alec Burleson lined a single up the middle off former Royals prospect Will Klein in the eighth inning to drive in Jordan Walker for his team-leading 28th RBI, scoring the lone Redbirds run in the game. In the ninth inning, Alex Call hit an RBI single to score Pages for the final run, after Pages reached on a fielding error to start the inning.
At the plate, Masyn Winn and Nathan Church both led the way in hits going 2-for-4. Burleson was 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Walker was 0-for-3 with a run scored, reaching on a walk.
